To empower our service users to live their lives free from abuse
- To provide for the relief of women in Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde and adjacent areas.
- To relieve distress and suffering experienced by women who have been gravely or persistently maltreated or abused and any children of such women by establishment of a refuge to provide shelter and a safe environment for such women and where appropriate their children.
- To relieve women from the effects of such violence by providing and developing a support network of people committed to relieving the said distress experienced by women who have been, or are being, subject to mental and physical abuse.
- To promote such other charitable purposes as are for the benefit of such women.
Fylde Coast Women’s Aid promotes and encourages survivors of domestic abuse to make their own choices about their future.
We have a range of services and projects supporting women, children and young people, and now men, across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde.
We support our service users through court proceedings, offer peer support within the community, temporary refuge accommodation, prevention and education work in schools, support in the community for children and young people, support and information around online dangers and risks to women, children and young people and recovery work with women ready to move on.
Domestic abuse is common; 1 in 4 women in the UK experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives. Abuse is not just physical. It can be psychological, emotional, sexual and financial. The effects can be devastating.
